City Manager Committee Meets Wednesday

The City Manager Citizens Committee has scheduled its initial meeting for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 2 in the First Floor Board Room at City Hall, 455 N. Main.
Local businessman Steve Martens will chair the 17-member Citizens Committee, which is charged with helping screen candidates. Additional meeting dates will be announced later. Following are other committee members, who have been appointed by the Wichita City Council: Joe Johnson, Kathy Dittmer, Cindy Claycomb, Austin Kinzle, Frank Bergquist, Ray Frederick, Ben Sciortino, Peter Salmeron, Kevin Myles, Greg Ferris, George Laham, Jon Rolph, Bill Warren, Wess Galyon, Susan Pompeo, Alicia Martinez-Newell.
The next City Manager will succeed interim City Manager Ed Flentje. On Dec. 18, the City Council appointed Flentje to succeed George Kolb, who resigned in late November after serving as City Manager since July 26, 2004. Flentje’s term is scheduled to run through July 1. The City Manager, who reports to the seven-member Council, oversees 3,100 employees, a $500 million annual budget and a $2.4 billion Capital Improvement Program.
