American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The State of Kansas has adopted the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as the State disability code, and has charged the local building official with the enforcement of ADA whenever a building permit is required.
Elevator Code
In addition to the provisions of the International Building Code, and the Code of the City of Wichita, Central Inspection enforces the American National Standard Institute ANSI/ASME A-17.1-2004 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators and the ANSI/ASME A18.1-2003 Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts.
