"TRIAD of South Central Kansas" is a safety program for senior citizens that is made up of 3 components. Seniors, Social services and Law enforcement. The Wichita Police Department is a strong partner in this program, and Officer Heather Frazier has taken the lead for our department to increase awareness in quality of life issues for our local seniors. Through her efforts of promoting this great program, Viking office products stepped forward and offered financial support to this program in the amount of $1000.00.


 

Webber Seavey Awards
2003 Webber Seavey Award
The Wichita Police Department will be recognized for winning the Webber Seavey Award during the City Council meeting on November 18th.  "Planeview Project" is one of three top winners in the 2003 Webber Seavey Award for Quality in Law Enforcement, an international competition sponsored by Motorola and the International Association for Chief's of Police. 2000 Webber Seavey Award
The Wichita Police Department was honored as a finalist for a the National Webber Seavey Law Enforcement Award.
The honor makes the department the first in Kansas to both finish as a finalist, and to have won it, according to the Association of Chiefs of Police and Motorola, sponsors of the award. For more, click here.
1996 Webber Seavy Award
The Wichita Police Department was honored as one of only three law enforcement departments worldwide to win the 1996 Webber Seavey Award for Quality in Law Enforcement. The award is presented annually by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and Motorola, and is the highest department recognition internationally for innovative law enforcement programs. The award honors the department for its South Central Prostitution Project, an initiative that helped reduce many types of crime in a declining urban neighborhood.

On May 11, 2003, Officer Bruce Benaway receives a law enforcement recognition award from the West Side Optimist Club. The award was presented by
Dow M. Summers Jr., for Officer Benaway's continued work with
the information that has been developed for the MCT's.

 

 


 

 Wichita officer receives Wheat State honor.

Officer Tony Bamberger gets a first-place award for his work helping an apartment complex. Bamberger was nominated in part for his community service work, at the Eagle Trace Apartments on West 29th Street South. Crime statistics have dropped, drugs and illegal activity are no longer a problem and a community garden has replaced overgrown trees an shrubs. In recognition for his work, Attorney General Carla Stovall recognized Bamberger, of the Wichita Police Department, for his work with a first place Wheat State Crime Prevention Award on Thursday in Topeka.
