Officer Griggs is a 10-year veteran of the Wichita Police Department. She is currently assigned to the Patrol South Bureau, Second Watch, and is the senior officer on her shift. Officer Griggs has served as a Field Training Officer. She is a Car Stop Instructor, a certified Taser Instructor, a Defensive Tactics Instructor and certified to instruct officers in the areas of Pressure Point Control Tactics, Close Quarter Combat, Handgun Retention, Ground Fighting and Reactive Knife Training. Officer Griggs is a top performer for her team. She exemplifies what a police officer for the Wichita Police Department should be.

Vonnie has been with the Wichita Police Department for 29 years and is currently assigned to the Case Review Unit in Records. Her assignment includes making sure that every case number obtained by an officer has paperwork submitted; the Wichita Police Department creates over 300 cases a day. Vonnie instructs recruit and reserve officers on Case Classification and the Kansas Incident Based Reporting System. She is a role model for her Bureau and an example that with hard work and dedication a person can be a successful and important member of the Wichita Police Department.

Chaplain Henion is the Head Pastor at Harvest Community Church. He has volunteered his services to the Wichita Police Department since 1996. He has served as the Director of Wichita Police and Sedgwick County Sheriff Police Chaplains for the past 7 years. Chaplain Henion coordinates a monthly schedule for 27 volunteer Police Chaplains, ensuring that their services are available to assist Officers and citizens of our community. He attends squad meetings weekly in an attempt to provide spiritual guidance and words of wisdom to Patrol Officers. His prayers and leadership are always appreciated yearly at the Citizen’s Academy and Police Recruit graduations. His dedication to Police Chaplain duties, faithful service and expertise reflects great credit upon the Wichita Police Department’s Chaplain Program.
