Funding Program - COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP)
Funding Amount - $409,194

CHRP is a grant program that provides funding directly to law enforcement agencies to create and preserve jobs and to increase their community policing capacity and crime-prevention efforts.

The City of Wichita received funding for two new officers for 36 months.  The grant will be used to fund officers in the March 2010 recruit class.

Funding Program - Byrne Justice Assistance Grant
Funding Amount - $1,149,854

The City of Wichita and Sedgwick County will share a $2,195,133 grant allocation from the Byrne Justice Assistance Grant.  Wichita's share of the grant award will pay for radios, tasers, investigations equipment, workstations, scanning services and police equipment.
