Wichita's official flag, adopted June 14, 1937, bears the white sun circle, Indian symbol for Hogan or permanent home. The blue sun symbolizes happiness for the citizens. Red areas signify honor; white, courage; both represent rays of light or ways to come and go, free and open to all.
