MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL



				Wichita, Kansas,  
January 23, 1996

				        Thursday, 8:32 
A.M.

 

			The City Council met in special session 
with Mayor Knight in the Chair.  Council Members Cole, Gale, 
Rogers; present.  Council Members Cather, Ferris, Kamen; absent.



			Chris Cherches, City Manager; Gary 
Rebenstorf, Director of Law; Patricia L. Burnett, Deputy City 
Clerk; present.





	The purpose of the Special Meeting was to recess 
to Executive Session.





	EXECUTIVE SESSION



Motion --	Knight moved that the Council recess to executive session to 
consider consultation with legal counsel on matters privileged 
in the attorney-client relationship relating to potential 
litigation, legal advice, and contract negotiations; and 
preliminary discussions relating to the acquisition of real 
property for public purposes; and the regular meeting be resumed 
no later than

       -- carried	9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.  
Motion carried 4 to 0.  (Cather, Ferris, Kamen; absent)



RECESS	Council recessed at 8:33 A.M. and reconvened in regular session at 
9:02 A.M.

	All Council Members present.



Motion --	Cole moved that Staff be authorized to bid at an auction, being 
held today, on downtown property located at 212 South Market, 
and 123 - 125 South Market, and 126 South Market, with the 
maximum bid amount of $50,000 each.  Motion carried 

       -- carried	7 to 0.





ADJOURNMENT	The special City Council meeting adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
