Public event scheduled for Sept. 28
The proposed Douglas Design District Streetscape Plan will be featured at an open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the American Red Cross Building Lobby, 1900 East Douglas Avenue.
Sponsored by the City of Wichita, the open house will provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about the proposed Douglas Design District Streetscape Design and Implementation Plan. The plan identifies the type and location of proposed street enhancements to East Douglas Avenue, from Washington to Glendale (one block east of Oliver); costs of proposed improvements; and recommended funding methods.
The plan has been developed over a period of 11 months by a citizen Steering Committee, with assistance from City of Wichita staff. The plan is intended to enhance safety and livability along the corridor while promoting economic vitality and streetscape beautification. Public feedback is important as the Steering Committee finalizes the plan for presentation to the Wichita City Council.
A working draft of the proposed Plan can be viewed online at the Planning Department site at www.wichita.gov.
