The City of Wichita Department of Environmental Services will offer a free special food handlers workshop for Spanish-speaking restaurant owners, managers and employees at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Lord’s Diner, 502 N. Broadway.
The workshop will qualify as an official Wichita Food Handler’s Class and cards will be given to participants. However, those with a current food handler’s card are also encouraged to attend.
This event will feature interactive demonstrations of various aspects of food safety, such as safe cooling methods and how to wash and sanitize equipment properly. Participants will also have an opportunity to provide feedback regarding the City’s restaurant inspection program.
This event provides an opportunity for restaurant management and staff to meet with regulators in an educational environment.
Preregistration is not required, but the capacity is limited to 100.
Traditional Food Handler’s Classes in both English and Spanish are offered at the Department of Environmental Services, 1900 E. 9th Street. The 2009 class schedule is available at www.wichita.gov or by calling the Department of Environmental Services at 316-268-8351.
