On March 4, 2003, the Wichita City Council appointed a Fireworks Task force Committee to study the issues involving fireworks and make recommendation to the Council.
The members of the taskforce meet every week and have a selected topic of discussion for each meeting. During the last few meetings the members of the taskforce have discussed on issues like public safety, enforcement, community education and community acceptance.
The committee is preparing to make a final recommendation on May 13 to the City Council and would like to get public input before doing so. The focus of the next meeting is to gather as much information possible from the public about their views/concerns about fireworks. It is a great chance to voice your thoughts and views on this issue and help the taskforce to make a good recommendation to the Council.
The committee is seeking public input. Please encourage representatives from your organization to meet with the members of the taskforce and provide ideas, input, or suggestions.
The taskforce would really like to hear from you and get your perspective.
