The Department of Environmental Health will recognize two special individuals for their accomplishments as licensed family child care providers at 2:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 3.
Cathy Koral and Carol Stewart both operate licensed day care homes in Wichita and have recently completed their 10th consecutive annual relicensure inspections with no deficiencies noted.
Of the 645 licensed day care homes in Sedgwick County, fewer than 25 percent receive perfect inspections in any given year; therefore, compliance records such as those attained by Ms. Koral and Ms. Stewart are extremely rare, averaging only one to two per year.
The Environmental Health Department’s Child Care Licensure section conducts inspections of approximately 1,500 local childcare facilities, and provides education for area child care workers. Activities are carried out under a grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
