The City of Wichita effort for limb clean-up has continued to progress east and west from the center of the City. Crews continue to move east and west and are working in areas between Tyler Street and the I-235 on the west side of the City, and between Hillside and Woodlawn on the east side.
The Public Works Department has asked for help on two main points to keep costs of the clean up effort down for the citizens of Wichita:
-
PLEASE get all of your limbs to curbside as soon as possible. The City of Wichita continues to receive calls asking when crews will be back as limbs were missed; please know that crews are still on the FIRST SWEEP, they will return later for a second sweep.
-
Remember not to park in front of the limb piles. If crews cannot reach them from the road, they will not be able to get them. They will NOT go on private property so have limbs curbside.
-
PLEASE dispose of small twigs on your own.
To assist in the clean up, the City of Wichita has extended free dumping. Wichitans may take tree limb debris from the January 4 ice storm FREE OF CHARGE. Other types of debris or waste will be required to pay the normal tipping fee. This site will be open extended hours, through Saturday, MARCH 5 from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. (Hours previously were 8 AM - 4 PM.) The site will be closed on Sunday. Brooks is located at 4100 N. West Street.
Citizens may also check the progress of the clean-up on the City of Wichita web site, www.wichita.gov where a map will illustrate the parts of the city already cleared of debris.
