The debut of the “Wichita Welcome Channel” during this Thanksgiving holiday was met with much success. The program will play on City Channel 7 at the half hour of every hour (such as at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and so on). This program debuts when visitors to Wichita are coming home to see their family. The hope is to inspire both visitors and residents to do something fun and exciting this holiday season right here in Wichita.
The “Wichita Welcome Channel” takes viewers on a visual tour through Wichita highlights such as attractions, sports, shopping, music, arts, dining, events and more. At the end of the program, a calendar of events will be updated weekly to reflect new events added, and take off events that have already happened. The program length is 30 minutes.
This program is a partnership effort between the City of Wichita, Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau and First Generation Video. The program has two audiences: Wichita citizens on City Channel 7 and visitors staying in area hotels and with family. This program will help Wichita citizens be more educated on all entertainment opportunities. Additional benefits include increased tourism and visitor numbers and extended hotel stays to visit area attractions.
Please note that it will not pre-empt replays of the City Council meeting or County Commission meetings, that will be aired at their usual times.
