Wichita City Manager George Kolb presented the 2008-2009 Proposed Budget at 8:30 a.m. today at City Hall, 455 N. Main. The Proposed Budget will also be available at www.wichita.gov.
Attendees included Finance Director Kelly Carpenter, Budget Officer Mark Manning, Assistant City Manager of Administration Cathy Holdeman and Assistant City Manager of Operations Scott Moore.
The City Manager’s Proposed Budget must be reviewed and approved by the Wichita City Council, which, according to state statue, must adopt the budget on Aug. 14. Following are scheduled public budget and CIP meetings:

July 10 - City Council workshop, following regularly scheduled Council meeting (Q&A)

July 10 - Presentation of the budget and public comment at City Council meeting

July 16 – Evening presentation to all six District Advisory Boards (DAB), 6:30 to 8:30 in City Council Chamber (televised live on City’s cable Channel 7; rebroadcasts also planned).

July 17 - Public comment only at City Council meeting but no staff presentation. A workshop will follow the meeting. The public is invited but no public comment.

July 24 - Set total dollars levied and take public comment at City Council meeting. A workshop will follow the meeting. The public is invited but no public comment.

Aug. 7 – Public comment but no staff presentation at City Council meeting. A workshop will follow the meeting. The public is invited but no public comment.

Aug. 14 - Official public hearing and adoption of the of the 2008 Budget at City Council meeting.
