McConnell Air Force Base The 22nd Air Refueling Wing is the host unit for McConnell AFB. We are one of only three supertanker KC-135 Stratotanker wings in the Air Force. Our primary mission is to provide global reach by conducting air refueling and airlift where and when needed. Team McConnell is the only Total Force base, and is made up of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, the 931st Air Refueling Group and the Kansas Air National Guard's 184th Intelligence Wing.
