Deputy Chief Wanda Parker-Givens is a Wichita native and thirty-one (31) year veteran of the Wichita Police Department. She was assigned as a patrol officer in the Patrol North and Patrol East Bureaus, also serving as one of the original Special Community Action Team (SCAT) Officers and Community Policing Officers (CP).
In June 1997, Wanda was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and worked assignments in the Patrol East and Patrol North Bureaus. In 2000, she was promoted the rank of Lieutenant and worked assignments in all three Divisions. In April 2016, Wanda was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to Patrol West Bureau.
Wanda earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Friends University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Wichita State University.
Wanda is a member of the Wichita Alumnae Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. and a volunteer Track and Field coach for Wichita Athletics.
Wanda is the recipient of numerous awards, including four (4) Bronze Wreath of Merit Awards; one (1) Life-Saving Award; one (1) Distinguished Service Award; one (1) Civic Achievement Award; multiple Safe Driving Awards; and numerous Commendatory Performance Reports.
In October 2019, Wanda Parker-Givens was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief.
